THE SHORT FILM CHALLENGE FOR 2020 HAS CONCLUDED. Keep an eye out for our activities in 2021!

Need something creative to do during the era of social distancing? Take part in the MCTG Short Film Challenge: Virtual Edition!

Want to show your skills at movie-making? Here's your time to shine. The Short Film Challenge gives you the opportunity to bring your big screen vision to life!

HOW DOES IT WORK? Simple. You will have until June 30th, 2020 at 11:59 PM to put a team together, write, and produce your 5-10 minute film and submit. That's it! There is no entry fee, so everyone can take part! Read all of the instructions below very carefully.

  1. Read all of the Official Rules (click here).

  2. Gather your team and pick a Team Leader. The Team Leader will be responsible for filling out all team forms.

  3. Pick a Team Name! This is all-important, you'll include it on every form and in the opening moments of your film!

  4. Register for the challenge using this form (click here).

  5. Team Leader: fill out this Team Leader Agreement (click here).

  6. Wait for us to send you a message with your required elements list and genre assignments. We will do our best to get back to you within two days after you sign up.

  7. All team members, including the Team Leader, must fill out an individual Photo & Audio/Video Release Form (click here).

  8. Make your film, following all of the Official Rules. Any teams/films that do not follow the rules will be disqualified.

  9. Once your film is complete, fill out this roster (click here) of everyone on your team and their role in the project. Additional instructions are included on the form.

  10. Submit your film at this link (click here). You will be required to make a free FilmFreeway account in order to upload your film. Make sure to include your Team Name in either the Title or Synopsis section of the upload as well, so we know whose film it is.

  11. Go to our YouTube Channel or any of our social media pages starting on June 30th to see all of the entries to the Challenge and find out who won!

More than anything, we want everyone to have a good outlet for creativity during this unusual time in our collective lives. Some of these steps can look complicated, so if you have any questions, feel free to email us at or message us on our social media pages. We will return any messages or emails as soon as we can.

Good Luck!
